Game-Changing Insights: Three Questions Transformed My Game Jam Entry| Devlog
The project I submitted to GMTK 23 was terrible. It was an abysmal, shapeless mess, so I took a bit more time to try and make it better. I realized the root of my issue was that the game didn't answer 3 questions:
- What's the goal?
- How do you win?
- How do you lose?
I overlooked some pretty basic fundamentals there, right? With those questions in mind, I kept the parts of the original game that worked, and threw everything else out. With a few tweaks and modifications, I ended up with Asteroid 2.0! I don't know if this game will receive any more updates, but I am very proud of what it has become. I'd love to hear your feed back!
PS - as far as I know, no one has beaten the game yet, so you could be the first! Post a screenshot if you do!

Asteroid started as an entry for GMTK 23, but it was awful, so I fixed it =}

I remember playing this game. It's great to see you are still working on it!
I think i forgot to mention it in my review during the voting period, but the tutorial has too much text and not many people will read it. I would divide the story in different slides with a few lines of text so that it's easier to read (some contrast with the background would help too).
The new gameplay is challenging and quite fun, i would add a slight gravity effect to the game, so instead of a straight line, the player will make a curve towards the new asteroid. It's just adding a small force towards the direction of the next asteroid divided by the distance. It would look cool apart from making it a bit easier to aim.
Keep making games, the best way to learn is by doing. :)
Hey HectorTL!
Thanks for checking out the new gameplay and giving more feedback. I'll definitely try adding the curve effect. I appreciate your feedback and encouragement!
